Handmade ceramic, potentially porcelain, and painted with multiple colors - plus, it's gilded! Beautifully done on the box top, and the box bottom, so the edges are covered. Very fine lines are also gilded, creating accents throughout on the abstract floral design covering the box top. The background is a marbled light and dark blue. This would have been so cutting edge when it was made in 1923.
The inside AND bottom are completely finished. A rarity.

On bottom of box, reading "1923 Italy". Etched into the bottom very delicately.
Condition:
Perfect, especially for it being 100 years old. No scratches or imperfections whatsoever. This box has been loved and taken care of since it was made.
