This is a versatile, bright, all-weather, breathable wool scarf made in Japan in the mid 20th century. With a two-tone red background, finished, seamed white edges followed by four intricate borders, and brocade-esque pattern through the corners in yellow and white, this is a beautiful piece. It has many complimentary hues and colors: yellows, creams, olive green, and periwinkle blue. Gorgeous pattern which is vaguely paisley, definitely organic, and definitely east-meets-west.
It's quite lightweight for it being wool. VERY soft, not itchy, its closer to cashmere it's so fine. Wonderful layering piece. Big enough to use as a wrap around the torso or waist, small enough to be a neck scarf.
Bonus - it does not wrinkle easily at all!!
