Marvelous antique Peruvian textile. It is likely from the 1940's given the feel, which is thick and somewhat worn. Primarily brown with great depth throughout. Finished on all sides in a gorgeous green wool edging. It was constructed of two panels, they are stitched together at the middle red line - see pics for details. There is a Peruvian pattern in two bands through the middle as well. The top and bottom have additional finishes on the interior edges.
I would use this as a wall hanging, a baby floor mat, or decor to drape over the couch, chair or bed. It would also make a great tablecloth. Ah, the beauty of a well-made, versatile textile!!
Condition:
Great vintage condition. Wear evident, but no loose threads, holes, or anything of the sort. Structurally perfect, too. It has been steam cleaned. Does not smell.
Note - I am unable to precisely date this piece, it is from the early 20th century, possibly earlier.
