Stupendous lucite box. The lucite/acrylic is solid, not hollow, giving this some nice weight. Clearly it was for cigarettes originally - the half circle curved interior speaks to that. Easy to use now for anything you desire - jewelry, memory cards, lighters, usb sticks, anything 4.5 inches or smaller.
Incredible optical illusion swirl pattern on the box top, it is relief and has fantastic grooves.
The cover is on hinges and is silver plated. Made by WMF, a historied German brand founded in 1853. The company specializes in silver plated designs, among other items, and added home decor to their kitchenware collections in the early and mid 20th century. I don't have an exact date for this beauty, but it is 100% made between 1900 - 1970.
This has been meticulously cleaned and refinished by yours truly.
