Gorgeous early De Stijl style chair critical to the cubism movement. Angles on this minimalist beauty give us all the vibes. Complex structures and primary colors are incredible. Nice wide arms (beverage can for scale) and a tilted seat, this is surprisingly - extremely - comfortable!
Heres a mini interior design lesson for you all: Gerrit Rietveld designed this chair in 1917 and in 1923 it was painted in these iconic colors by Piet Mondrian.
This chair does not have a Cassina label, or any label. Based on its provenance and condition, it is an early model, circa 1940s. Potentially bench-made. Hence the steep price cut: new versions of this go for $1,840 and vintage ones with Cassina labels go for $800 roughly.
