Supposedly, these were originally made for submarines. A heavy (iron?) baseplate secures the sphere ball which supports the rest of the lamp. It has a knob for power on/off, and works! The "saucer" on top is a brushed lightweight metal, likely aluminum. The lamp mechanism, all the way to the sphere, are brass . The base is heavy, silver/gray, and is finished with felt on the bottom. See full description for detailed measurements.

Condition:
Good/okay. I left the patina, but it can be refinished about 50% better, on the brass finish at least. The metal top is slightly bent, see photos for details. There are signs of tarnish - the patina - throughout. The lamp turns on and stays on, but the switch is a little finicky. The cord is a bit brittle.
