This gorgeous gold glass bowl has spectacular Aurene: the iridescent paint is pink to yellow to green. No photos or video will do it justice - words won't either, but I have to try. A remarkable collectors piece, this Steuben glass bowl is an antique treasure. It's made between 1903 - 1933. At times reflecting greens, purples and blues, other angles shine orange, yellow, gold, and red. When there's no light directly on it, the exterior looks like champagne, interior more goldenrod than canary yellow.

10" across, 3.5" high

Use this as a centerpiece, leave it bare near a windowsill to shine, display it on an easel, this bowl will bring joy to the home. Try putting dried lavender or other herbs in it; use it in your gratitude practice or place fairy lights in the middle, with ornaments for the holiday season.

Aurene is a type of ornamental glass that has an iridescent surface, and is "made by spraying the glass with stannous chloride or lead chloride and reheating it under controlled atmospheric conditions. Aurene was developed by Frederick Carder (1863-1963) at Steuben Glass Works in Corning, New York, in 1904." (source: https://www.cmog.org/glass-dictionary/aurene)

PROVENANCE AND AUTHENTICITY

As a lifelong collector and researcher I conduct authenticity due diligence before posting anything for sale. This bowl was purchased from an art gallery that labeled it Steuben Glass Works. It has no makers mark, stamp, etching, etc., which is likely because although most Steuben glass was marked before leaving the factory, which sometimes meant a paper sticker, but etchings were sometimes used and in 1932 became more consistent. Moreover, colored glass was phased out starting or around 1933.

The paper sticker is long gone but the glass is in SPECTACULAR condition for it being 117 - 89 (ish) years old.

Pieces by Steuben Glass Works are in museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Toledo Museum of Art, the Corning Museum of Glass, and many many more.
